Modern civilization, industrialization, urbanization, and increased population are the main causes of the fast degradation of our environment. Water is indispensable and one of the precious natural resources of this planet. Water is important to the mechanics of the human body and the body cannot survive without it. Water quality is essential for the well-being of all people; the quality of water can be affected by different pollutants such as chemical, biological and physical. Contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, nitrate, and salt have found their way into water supplies, the water pollution occurs when a body of water is adversely affected due to the addition of large amounts of materials to the water
THE IMPORTANCE OF GROUNDWATER
Ground Water is the major source of drinking water in both urban and rural areas. The importance of groundwater for the existence of human society cannot be over-emphasized. The groundwater crisis is not the result of natural factors. It has been caused by human action much of the ill health which affects humanity, especially in developing countries can be traced to the lack of a safe and whole water supply. Prolonged discharge of industrial effluents, domestic sewage, and solid waste dump causes the groundwater to become polluted and created health problems Ground water contains a high amount of various ions, salts, etc. so if we were using such type of water as potable water then it leads to various water-borne diseases.
KURNOOL OVERVIEW
The Kurnool district of AP has a total area of 69.51 km². The district lies on the plains of the river Tungabhadra. Basic Information of surface water irrigation is 15% while that of groundwater is 34%. The economy of the district mainly depends upon agriculture. The district receives a normal rainfall of 665 mm.
Also, the city is surrounded by lots of manufacturing companies. There are over 60 manufacturing companies in Kurnool. The masticating companies use a lot of water for the work, and this results in lots of wastewater that is released to the ground without any further treatment.
CLIENT CHALLENGES
Byreddy Rajashekar reddy is a local of the Kurnool Residing in Autonagar. He lives in a villa spread over an acre. There is no municipal water connection. The TDS level of groundwater is 5608 which is way harmful. The water will trigger health issues. In view of this,he talked to the professionals working in the Hydromo.
TDS
Water with a high TDS value indicates higher mineralization of water. The standard limit for TDS is 50 ppm and the maximum limit is 150 ppm prescribed for drinking purposes by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The concentration of TDS in the present study was observed in the range of 5000ppm which is life-threatening
The hardness is not harmful to health but it has been suspected to play some role in heart diseases. In this study, the total hardness of all samples was found to be within the permissible limit for drinking water. The minimum and maximum values recorded were 4885ppm and 5000ppm respectively.
HYDROMO APPROACH
Hydromo checked out the water quality after getting to the villa. The analysis showed that the TDS of the water was extremely dangerous. Reports show that the level of TDS in water is 5608 whereas the TDS level of about 500ppm can trigger health issues by BIS of India. This was a typical residential project for us, with a villa, spread over an acre in an industrial zone with harmful hard water.
